A series of new images reveal the vision for the Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park train stations, which the state government has dubbed as “vibrant new transit-oriented’’ precincts along the 24km underground line.

The government is now seeking public input on the four buildings to be constructed at Parramatta and three new buildings for Sydney Olympic Park which will sit above or adjacent to the stations, when the line opens in 2030.

“These proposals will bring to life two of western Sydney’s most popular destinations, supporting employment growth and future housing demand in the city’s fast-growing west,” Transport Minister David Elliott said.

He said the buildings would allow for retail at the ground level and commercial and residential spaces above the stations.

“Both precincts will seamlessly connect to wider Sydney with turn-up-and-go metro services on their doorstep and easy access to new light rail, Sydney Trains, buses and active transport links.”

Planning Minister Anthony Roberts said stations and developments were vital to the vision for the Parramatta CBD, the Sydney Olympic Park town centre and the future of Western Sydney.

“At Parramatta, the new metro station precinct will be conveniently located next to the future Civic Link that will extend from Parramatta Square to Parramatta River, creating a new and exciting destination for the Parramatta CBD,” Mr Roberts said.

“The Sydney Olympic Park metro station precinct will sit in the heart of the new town centre and will be within footsteps of Sydney’s premier sporting and entertainment events, supporting the more than 10 million people who live and stay in the area each year.”

The community is encouraged to have its say on the plans for the metro station precincts until December 13.

Detailed plans for the buildings and surrounds will be exhibited separately as part of the subsequent development application stage, and community feedback will again be sought.

The government has pledged that commuters “will have access to fast and reliable metro services, including target travel times of about 20 minutes between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD”.

Sydney Olympic Park Business Association chief executive Allison Taylor said she was pleased the proposal was on public exhibition but called for more time for community feedback.

She said the Environmental Impact Statement was 144 pages and complex.

“The time frame in which to respond is very short, too, so it may be challenging to cover all bases by the deadline.’’

“We will be making a submission after consultation with our members, many of whom will also be making submissions on behalf of their organisations,’’ Mrs Taylor said.

“In principle we are supportive of this important development. We are delighted that the Sydney Olympic Park station design has taken into consideration that this is a major events precinct.’’

She pointed out that the feedback for the Parramatta Light Rail stage 2 was also under way. “The consultation process within the planning process is certainly not easy,’’ she said.
