The self-proclaimed Greatest Environment Minister of All Time has been left gushing after meeting fellow green thumb — England’s King Charles.
The NSW Treasurer Matt Kean shared a picture of him shaking hands with the King at Buckingham Palace ahead of COP27 saying he was thrilled to meet a fellow environmental advocate.
“He’s long been a strong advocate for sustainability and the environment, and I explained the important steps NSW is taking to manage the energy transition towards renewables to help our precious planet,” Mr Kean said.
“The overwhelming response was that real action on climate change is important for nations around the globe, and NSW will continue to do its part.”
King Charles — like Mr Kean — has been a vocal supporter for sustainable policies, with his advocacy breaking the usual royal protocol of remaining neutral on political matters.
Mr Kean is now in Egypt alongside the Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen and other state ministers.
“I am participating in the COP and working with investors and Governments around the world to tackle our global energy challenges.”
The Treasurer’s overseas trip comes amid a crucial week in parliament with first homebuyer stamp duty reforms on the agenda — prompting several Liberals to complain to the Telegraph after his absence.
Premier Dominic Perrottet will act for and on behalf of Mr Kean from Tuesday November 1 until Saturday November 12 with Mr Kean returning with just three sitting days left of the year.
Mr Kean also attracted criticism from the opposition, with Labor finance spokesman Daniel Mookhey accusing him of dodging complex policy issues.
