Two men remain in hospital Saturday after a targeted Sydney shooting police say proves nowhere is off limits in the city’s endless gangland war. Officers are investigating whether the murder of Comanchero Alen Moradian is linked.

Sydney’s gang war has spilt into a suburban barber shop in a brazen attack that has police convinced nowhere is off limits in the bloody feud.

Two men, aged 33 and 20, were gunned down in broad daylight inside Adel’s Salon, 100m from the local police station in Marrickville just before 2pm on Friday.

“It is very brazen, and that’s why we believe it’s obviously a targeted attack,” Superintendent Despa Fitzgerald said.

“It’s not random and it was fortunate that no other members of the public were involved. It is a concern. They obviously don’t care where they do it.”

The Inner West Police Commander was speaking after a gunman dressed in black entered the Marrickville Rd salon and fired shots at two men getting a haircut. Police confirmed they are investigating whether the double shooting is linked to the hit on underworld heavyweight Alen Moradian in Bondi last week.

“That’s definitely a line of inquiry we are following at this point,” one source said, confirming the two men are known to police.

It’s understood several people were inside the store at the time as the gunman let a volley of bullets fly from inside and footage of the aftermath soon emerged. The younger man is believed to be in a critical condition with gunshot wounds to his chest, while the other is in a stable condition with a shot in his lower back.

The pair were there to get haircuts and are reportedly regular customers of the popular local business.

Footage from the scene shows one shirtless man lying lifeless on the floor while a police officer gives him first aid. Another officer was also seen trying to calm down a second man in the salon.

Both were treated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital for treatment. Inner West Police Commander Superintendent Despa Fitzgerald said investigators were hunt for a white Toyota Camry which they believed was the getaway vehicle for one of the offenders. The vehicle has registration DMM59H.

“It is very brazen, and that’s why we believe it’s obviously a targeted attack,” Superintendent Fitzgerald said.

“It’s not random and it was fortunate that no other members of the public were involved.

“It is a concern. They obviously don’t care where they do it.”

Several witnesses reported seeing a silver car fleeing the scene of the shooting not long after the shots were fired.

“We heard like five shots,” one local who wanted to remain anonymous said. “It’s crazy. This is Marrickville. It’s full of families here.” Some have said they heard five shots.

“I noticed that people were just staring and there was a helicopter going around,” one local said.

“So I was like, I tried to ask what’s going on what’s happening? No one was really responding. But then I walked into the shops and they’re like, there was a shooting in the hairdresser.

“And I’m like, which hairdressers and they pointed to it, and it turned out to be the same hairdresser that my husband goes to.”

A crime scene was established and specialist forensic officers hunted for clues. Police believe two vehicle fires in Marrickville and Dulwich Hill a short time after the shooting are linked.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said crews rushed to Norwood Lane in Marrickville after reports a car was well alight. They arrived at 2.03pm and found the blaze threatening a nearby building before it was extinguished.

The next call came through a minute later, to reports of another vehicle on fire at Hercules St in Dulwich Hill.
