Maroubra police raids: 300 knives, axes seized and man charged

Hundreds of knives, axes, tasers, knuckle dusters and two large bows have been seized from a home on a quiet street in Sydney’s eastern suburbs after ABF officers intercepted several packages.

An eastern suburbs man charged with importing an arsenal of weapons including knives, axes, tasers and knuckle dusters has faced court.

Jacob Hui, 49, from Maroubra, appeared in court on Thursday after allegedly importing and possessing hundreds of weapons which were uncovered by police.

Last month, Australian Border Force officers intercepted several suspicious packages which contained dangerous weapons.

They found these were all being sent to the same address on Alma Rd, Maroubra and referred this to NSW Police, police allege.

Officers from Eastern Suburbs police began investigating the delivery of weapons before raiding Mr Hui’s home on the quiet suburban street.

They allegedly found about 250 weapons at the three-storey property – in the well-off area of Maroubra – including illegal knives, swords and axes stashed away in the home, police allege.

Only two weeks after this they searched a storage facility linked to Mr Hui’s address and allegedly found a taser, slingshot and variety of knives.

He briefly appeared at Waverley Local Court on Thursday and his matter was adjourned until January 23. He remains on bail.

The Southern Courier spoke with Mr Hui following his court matter but he declined to comment.
