THE sister of NRL star Dylan Walker has been charged with manslaughter over the death of her boyfriend after she allegedly broke into his southern Sydney home and viciously attacked him.

Jade Walker, 31, appeared before Sutherland Local Court yesterday after her arrest early on Sunday when police were called to a Brighton-Le-Sands home to find Gilbert Caetano, 51, unconscious.

When police arrived they were unable to revive Mr Caetano, who according to court documents had suffered fatal injuries to his head and face.

Walker was arrested at the scene and charged with manslaughter (domestic violence) and aggravated enter dwelling with intent.

In refusing Jade Walker bail police claim she “made admissions to the offence” and that an “independent witness” had seen the killing take place.

It is understood the 31-year-old was in an “on and off” relationship with Mr Caetano, who lived with his elderly parents.

Police allege Walker broke into the Mr Caetano’s family home between 1am and 1.45am on Sunday, with neighbours telling The Daily Telegraph they heard screams and “a loud thud” come from the house.

Walker, who is in custody, sat expressionless in the dock and did not enter a plea during her brief court appearance. Her lawyer did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

On Sunday Mr Caetano’s distraught daughter Jessica told The Daily Telegraph her father had been a kind and caring man who was young at heart.

In fact, earlier that day the panel beater had been celebrating his father’s 80th birthday with family and friends.

The Manly Sea Eagles released a statement on Monday afternoon with a spokesman saying the club were aware of the charges and would not be commenting further on the matter.

“Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have been advised today of a serious legal matter involving a close family member of NRL player, Dylan Walker,” the spokesman said.

“The Club’s focus during this challenging period, which has come at the same time as Dylan is undergoing recovery from a serious eye socket injury sustained in the Club’s win over Melbourne Storm on Saturday night, is on fully supporting Dylan and his family.

“Given the serious nature of the charges before the Court and the need to let due legal process unfold, neither Dylan or the Club will be making any further public comment.”
