Man drowns at Parramatta Lake, teen in hospital after Wedderburn cliff fall

A man’s body has been found at a lake while a teen has been rushed to hospital after falling from a cliff in two separate incidents in western Sydney this afternoon.

A man has drowned at a western Sydney lake while a teenager is fighting for life after falling from a cliff near Campbelltown in two separate incidents at Sydney watering holes on Monday.

The man, who was swimming at Parramatta Lake with friends on Monday, disappeared beneath the water about 5pm.

Emergency services including a rescue helicopter, surf lifesavers, police and paramedics searched the scene from above and on the ground before the 25 year-old from Carlton’s body was found just before 8pm.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

It is the second suspected drowning at the lake in a week, after a 23 year-old man’s body was found last Sunday after he went missing while swimming there.

Another family member was transported to hospital by paramedics from the scene.

It comes as a teenage boy was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition after he fell onto rocks near the Jingga Pools at Wedderburn.

A NSW ambulance medical team was lowered into the popular swimming spot by a rescue helicopter to treat the teen for a serious head injury, before he was winched to safety and flown to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
