Man drowns at Wattamolla Lagoon in Royal National Park

DESPERATE swimmers performed CPR on a 27-year-old man after he was pulled from the Wattamolla Lagoon in the Royal National Park yesterday. Paramedics took over but he died at the scene.

A man has drowned while swimming at a beach in the Royal National Park just south of Sydney.

Emergency services were called to Wattamolla Lagoon near Sutherland about 6.45pm yesterday after nearby swimmers saw a man disappear under the water.

They searched for him and pulled back to shore before a number of bystanders performed CPR

Paramedics then took over performing CPR.however the man died at the scene.

Police are now investigating all the circumstances surrounding his death.

People are being urged to remain vigilant around waterways, beaches and swimming pools during the festive season following today’s incident.
