A man has been found dead after his car became submerged in floodwaters in country NSW amid widespread rains.
Police said the 46-year-old had last been seen in Essington, a rural area about 45km south of Bathurst, on Sunday.
But the alarm was raised when he did not return to his home on Monday.
A search was launched before a helicopter crew saw his car submerged in the Campbells River near the intersection of two roads at Charlton, which is just northeast of Essington.
SES crews approached the car and found the man’s body inside.
Police renewed calls for people to never drive into any roadways that are covered by floodwaters following his death.
“If it’s flooded, forget it,” a NSW Police spokesman said.
Anyone with information about the man’s death is urged to come forward.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Meteorology has warned renewed flooding is possible for areas surrounding Bathurst later this week.
“A trough approaching from the west of NSW is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to the central and southern inland of the state during Thursday and Friday as it crosses the state,” the bureau said.
Sky News meteorologist Alison Osbourne said major flooding was still occurring in up to six rivers across NSW following big downpours.
“We can see a developing low-pressure system in The Bight with some troughs and a cold front ahead of it,” Ms Osbourne said.
“We will start to see the wet weather increasing on Wednesday morning in places like central and western NSW as well as central parts of Victoria.”
Despite conditions easing on Tuesday, there are 101 flood warnings in place in NSW, including three emergency warnings.
