An eastern suburbs mum was allegedly nearly seven times the legal alcohol limit when she allegedly crashed her Porsche Cayenne trying to enter a carpark.
Polish-born Malgorzata Kwoka, 44, was on her way to pick up her twins from daycare when she allegedly ploughed into a bollard and ticket machine at the entrance to a carpark in Double Bay.
Police allege Kwoka failed to negotiate the slender entry to the up-market Kiaora Place Shopping Centre about 5.50pm on Thursday. Shocked onlookers ran to help Kwoka before police were called.
“Nearby members of the public rendered assistance to the driver, removing her from the vehicle before officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended,” a statement from police said.
Kwoka allegedly failed a roadside breath test before she was taken to Waverley Police Station, where she formally returned a reading of .341.
She was charged with high-range drink-driving (first offence) and released on conditional bail.
Evidence of the collision remained at the scene on Friday, where a bollard had been partially ripped from its concrete footings.
Kwoka was visibly upset on Friday as she emerged from her Bellevue Hill townhouse and jumped in a taxi.
She is due to appear in Waverley Local Court on October 11.
