It’s a case of third time lucky for celebrity chef Pete Evans who recently sold one of his two Malabar properties after failing to offload it twice before.

The five-bedroom Austral St home sold off market for $2.76 million.

The controversial My Kitchen Rules host and paleo diet advocate, who has raised eyebrows in the past by showing support to anti-vaxxers and claiming chemical-filled sunscreen is not good for you, had listed this property twice with no result.

He bought it in 2013 for $1.44 million and listed it for sale briefly in 2017 through LJ Hooker’s Alex Larumbe, but it failed to sell.

He had another go in February last year through NG Farah, but it was withdrawn from auction.

Evans and his model-turned-nutritionist wife Nicola Robinson, who he married in a secret ceremony in 2016, decided to lease it out instead and acquired tenants through James Daniel at NG Farah, who secured $1600 a week for the home.

The same year the couple across the road with Evans’ children to his former wife, Chilli, 14, and Indii, 12, to the Metricon-designed house they had been building.

They bought a knockdown 1960s home for $1.27 million in 2014 and spent close to $1 million renovating it.

The family have been posting cute isolation videos from their home on Evans’ Instagram of the girls teaching their dad TikTok dances and of Indii taking time off from homeschooling to play on the backyard monkey bars.

Not surprisingly, the Austral St property featured a designer commercial kitchen with twin dishwashers, integrated dual Wolf ovens, a built-in bain-marie and a huge 5m island bench, all of which open out onto a ground level wraparound terrace.

JUST CUTS FOUNDER LISTS HIS SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS ESTATE

The country retreat belonging to Just Cuts founder Denis McFadden for more than a decade has been sold for a confidential price, believed to be around $2.2 million, through Drew Lindsay Bowral agent Samuel Lindsay.

Named Hickory Hill, the impressive four-bedroom estate was custom-built by the hairdressing king in 2009 after he bought the 1900s farmhouse that stood on the 32ha block in 2004 for $643,000.

He has called the Canyonleigh luxury property home since 2011.

It is unsure if McFadden will relocate within the Southern Highlands or if he has his sights set on a new neighbourhood. But he hasn’t let the sale distract him from speaking out on behalf of his industry as coronavirus rages; he recently pleaded with the government to close hairdressing salons as the country goes into lockdown to allow workers and owners to access financial assistance.

McFadden was a hairdresser in Sydney before moving to London where he opened his first salon in the Marble Arch area at the top of Oxford Street in the 1960s.

He returned to Australia in the late 1970s opening a salon in Sydney before founding Just Cuts in 1990. There are now more than 200 Just Cuts franchises across Australia and New Zealand. And the first Just Cuts opened in London last year.

Marketed as a classic bush retreat, Hickory Hill was designed to have views from every room, particularly the internal plunge pool and separate spa which is wrapped in glass walls.

The master suite features a walk in wardrobe and ensuite with a shower that has floor to ceiling glass looking out to the bush surrounds.
