A motorcyclist is fighting for life in hospital after a serious crash in Sydney’s CBD on Wednesday morning.
Paramedics were called to the intersection of King St and York St shortly before 4.10am following reports of a crash between a motorcycle and ute.
The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to St Vincents Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the ute, a 36-year-old man, was uninjured and has been taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.
The intersection was a crime scene for about two hours and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
York St was also closed southbound from Barrack St.
As of 8am, all roads had reopened and traffic congestion has significantly eased.
Local police earlier established a crime scene which was examined by specialist police.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash – or has any available dashcam footage – are encouraged to contact City Central Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
