IF ever you needed proof the state was bone dry, this kangaroo was found stiff as a board in the heart of the Riverina in the state’s southwest.
It’s not uncommon for Len McLean from Morundah to come across roo remains while out working cattle, where wildlife competes with livestock for whatever greenery they can find.

To find a dead kangaroo perfectly intact was a shock because foxes and feral animals typically scatter the bones across the paddock.
“It’s pretty dry out here, there’s not much feed and there are dead kangaroos everywhere,” Mr McLean said.
Mr McLean was able to stand the kangaroo up and balance it with very little effort, without having to put together bones.
