Former English Premier League star Dietmar Hamann has pleaded not guilty to assaulting his girlfriend on holiday in Sydney.

Police allege the 45-year-old, who famously played for Liverpool and Manchester City, pushed the 49-year-old at a Randwick home in the early hours of Friday morning.

The former German international did not attend Waverley Local Court on Thursday and was not required to when his lawyer entered a not guilty plea to one charge of domestic violence-related common assault.

Hamann’s bail was continued, with the matter adjourned to December 12.

But Magistrate Michael Price granted him bail on the condition he report to Waverley Police Station on Monday and Friday and surrender his passport.
