FOOTBALL: Willowburn made some big moves in the 2020 pre-season.
Eager to capitalise on their continued growth at a junior level, the Toowoomba club joined Brisbane’s Capital 3 League in an effort to provide another pathway for the region’s footballers.
With some of the club’s best Toowoomba Football League’s talent now lacing up in Brisbane, the TFL Premier Men’s team was tipped to struggle.
That however was not the case with the team going on to claim the minor premiership, President’s Cup and a victory in the grand final.
In the aftermath of his side’s grand final win, The Chronicle talked to Premier Men’s skipper Beau Partridge (pictured) about a season that defied all odds.
“It was definitely a special season,” he said.
“I can’t say enough good things about the boys.
“They fought all season and did it with the right attitude.
“(Coach) Jamie (McMillan) talked about it all season – how important it was to have the right attitude.
“You might not have the skills or experience, but if you get the right attitude the results will come and that’s what happened.”
