TOOWOOMBA residents can treat themselves to a game of golf with a difference on Saturday, July 4.

Players won’t need balls, tees or clubs – instead they’ll be able to enjoy an introduction to disc golf.

“I’ve always thought Toowoomba, with its great parks, would be a great place for a disc golf course,” Toowoomba Disc Golf Club representative Andrew Stanley said.

“I started writing grant applications, and with the help of Toowoomba Regional Council we were able to install the course last month.”

Players use different discs for different shot types and the sport can be easily “picked up” by anyone.

“There is a degree of skill involved, but it’s a sport that anyone can play,” Stanley said.

“The rules and style of play is a lot like regular golf, and it’s a lot of fun.”

The come and try day is a free event starting at 2pm.
