RACING: The jewel in the Clifford Park crown is less than two months away, and one of the growing components of the week has been announced.

Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness Centre has been named as the Weetwood Pin and Win charity partner for 2020.

Toowoomba Turf Club CEO Lizzy King said the chance to use the strong brand of the Weetwood to assist a community group is of vital importance.

"It's part of our community engagement strategy. The Weetwood gives us the chance to expose our brand to as many people as possible, and that allows for a fundraiser or charity to jump on board," King said.

"Hope Horizons did it tough during COVID. They had to shut everything down and have only been able to reopen in the last few weeks.

"It's such an important service. Cancer touches so many people in all communities."

Hope Horizons vice chairman Peter Turnbull said the chance to partner with the Weetwood Handicap would not only raise vital funds, but grant further exposure to the group.

"We were on the verge of launching and having some fundraising in the week that we had to shut down, which severely affected our fundraising efforts for the last five months," Turnbull said.

"It's exciting to be involved and be given the chance to spread the message, with so many events to attend."

Pins will be sold on the feature September 26 race day, as well as the events in the week leading up to the big day, including the Corporate Golf Day, Breakfast with the Stars, Barrier Draw and Calcutta Sportsman's Lunch.

"Being community based, we offer our services to anyone with a cancer diagnosis, plus their families and carers," he said.

"We provide them with as many services as we can with no out of pocket expenses, which we pay for through our fundraising.

"Anyone coming into Toowoomba for treatment can come into contact with us."
