The Rangers will host a rare triple-header at Commonwealth Oval on Sunday, the first of two scheduled for this season.

“It’s been quite a few years since we’ve had one,” club president Darryl Luchterhand said.

“Last year we only had two teams who were often together, but it’s very exciting to have all three at once.

“Supporters can come out and watch all three, or whichever grade they like, and it will help the club financially.

“It’s one of only two times it will happen this season, with the next after Christmas.

“What makes it even more exciting is B and C-grade are both undefeated and A-grade has had just the one loss.”

A-grade suffered its first loss of the season last week, and with a tight division four ladder, Luchterhand said an immediate bounce back was essential to remain near the top.

“It looks like they’ll have to do it without Brent Vanderneut who has a bit of an injury,” he said.

“You’ll see a bit more of an inspired A-grade line-up,” he said.

“Sam (McNeice) will be back on deck, Hippsy (Brian Hipps) and Phil (Vanderneut) have had the chance to get rid of a few cobwebs.

“The loss hurt last week and a lot will be learnt from that.

“The boys realise that if we lose this weekend we could drop to as low as seventh if results go against us.”

The Rangers lower grade sides have combined for nine wins from as many games, and Luchterhand has heaped praise on the efforts of C-grade in particular, who have blasted 34 runs over the last fortnight.

“I can’t speak highly enough of C-grade,” he said.

“They’ve been doing the work and everything Ardy (Luke Ardill) has asked of them.

“They’re reaping the rewards on the field.

“I can’t believe how much our new blokes have improved. When you’re winning you enjoy your baseball and they’re having a good time at the moment.”

Action gets underway at Commonwealth Oval from 9.30am with C-grade hosting Mt Gravatt, before B-grade faces off with Beenleigh at midday and A-grade takes on Redlands at 2.30pm.
