BOXING: He’s made a name for himself around the world as an all-action Muay Thai star. Brandon Spain knows how to scrap and fight for a win, but his challenge this weekend will be a “simpler” one.

Simpler but no less dangerous.

The Toowoomba fighter is set to make his pro-boxing debut against Chris Oliver on the TGW and Smithy Bring the Big Fights 26 card.

“Muay Thai has taken me all over the world and now I’m ready to make a statement in the boxing ring,” Spain said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“I’m going to put on a fight and make sure people remember me.”

Spain is confident he will be able to smoothly make the transition to boxing due to his Muay Thai fighting style.

“I’ve never been much of a kicker,” he said.

“I tend to use my hands and elbows the most when I fight.

“In Muay Thai you have eight weapons you can use.

“I’m looking forward to just focusing on the two – my hands.”

Spain will fight veteran boxer Chris Oliver and the St George man is ready to “go to war”.

“I’ve watched a lot of Brandon’s fights this week,” Oliver said.

“He will be a challenge so I’m ready to go to war.

“Hopefully we go the distance and it’s fight of the night.”
