RUGBY LEAGUE: Ash Taylor has produced his finest performance of the NRL season, condemning his former team to its darkest moment.
The Brothers junior was involved in everything as the Gold Coast secured its second win of the season, downing Brisbane 30-12 at Suncorp Stadium.
Taylor scored the opening try of the game, catching the Broncos defence off guard with a dummy half run metres out from the tryline.
He put the exclamation point on the effort with a cutout pass in the dying stages to put Phillip Sami across the stripe.
Taylor’s kicking game was also at its best, forcing two drop outs in the process.
The loss marks the fifth-successive defeat for Brodie Croft and the Broncos, as questions continue to mount on the future of coach Anthony Seibold.
Dalby’s Andrew McCullough and the Knights had their bubble burst in the tropics, as the Cowboys turned their form around to claim a 32-20 win at home.
The former Maroon was again a brick wall, finishing with a game-high 58 tackles, however a disastrous first half, that saw Newcastle trail 26-0, was their downfall.
Those were the same fortunes for Ethan Lowe’s Rabbitohs, falling 20-12 to a clinical Penrith Panthers outfit.
Lowe was solid in defence (38 tackles), however saw limited time in attack with just five runs.
