‘Boost would be immeasurable’: Netball should come to town

Basing a Super Netball in Toowoomba would be an almost "immeasurable" boost to the development of the game at the regional level.

COMMUNITY engagement is a staple part of every Super Netball club.

Clubs regularly send players and coaches to regional centres to provide coaching clinics to junior players and volunteers in an effort to grow the game.

Basing a Super Netball in Toowoomba, however would be an almost "immeasurable" boost to the development of the game at the regional level.

"The boost would be just about immeasurable," Darling Downs Panthers coach Bec Stower said.

"I think we would see growth at all levels of the game locally and it would be fabulous for the economy.

"The (Super Netball) clubs are really good with community engagement but having a team based here in Toowoomba would be something else.

"We have plenty of Firebirds and Lightning fans here, but there are just as many girls that idolise players from other Super Netball teams as well.

"Seeing their idols here could inspire them to go on to greater things.

"It could help establish new pathways to elite netball for our young players as well. They're already talking about games in Cairns, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, so why not us?"
