A confident Steve Spark has signalled his intent to opponent Chad Collins and his trainer Brandon Wood ahead of the WBC Australasia Super Lightweight title fight next week.

“I know for a fact as soon as I land my first clean shot, Chad is going to be in a lot of trouble,” he said.

“I’m not just the best super lightweight in the country, I’m the best finisher in the country.

“I’m ready to make a big statement again.”

Spark accepts that Collins, a world-ranked Muay Thai fighter, will pose a challenge, but the Toowoomba boxer said he was ready.

“We’re under no illusions about what Chad Collins possess, he’s fought for two world titles in Muay Thai,” Spark said.

“He’s obviously a tough fighter. But I win this fight hands down.

“I’ve had the best (fight camp) I’ve ever had, I’ve been sparing with former world title challengers and Australian titleholders.

“I’ve never had a better camp, and I’m going to showcase my talent on the night.”

Collins gloves up with just six weeks of preparation and plenty of belief.

“With COVID, I moved back to Australia from Thailand and was on the tools – laying pipe,” Collins said.

“When I got the phone call, I jumped at the chance, I quit my job so I can focus on this.

“But I’m quite happy with my preparation, my fitness and where I’m at.

“I think they’re going to be surprised by what I can do.”
