RACING: It will be a family affair for the Leggatt’s as She’s So Vain looks to break her maiden at Clifford Park on Saturday night.

The two-year-old filly is trained by Darrell Leggatt and owned by his wife and son, after catching their eye at the Magic Millions sales.

The juvenile has made an impressive start to her racing career with a pair of placings from her only two starts, and Leggatt is hoping she can break through in the Pryde’s Easifeed QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1000m).

“She’s owned by my wife and son. She was purchased at the Magic Millions,” Leggatt said.

“I like the stallion Denman and she was at our limit.

“She seems to be going pretty well at the moment. Before her first race she only had two 650m jumpouts.

“At Brisbane she had a bit of trouble cornering and was a bit green, but she never gave up. Those two runs should have her switched on. She went well.”

She’s So Vain had her first start at Clifford Park, running second behind Sherwood Prince who has since gone on to win again at Rockhampton.

Her next start resulted in a third in Saturday grade at Doomben, where she had her colours lowered by promising types Conexy and Baby Wong.

Leggatt said she has taken plenty of benefit from those two runs, with Kenji Yoshida to once again stick with her.

“She’s come on in leaps and bounds from those runs and hopefully will go well on Saturday night,” he said.

“Barrier four means she should be up near the lead and hopefully she can come home over the top of them.

“Kenji has gone well on her and he’s pretty keen to stick with her.”

The race will feature a rare runner from the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott camp, with first starter Summerbeel accepted for the two-year-old sprint.

Clifford Park will host seven races on Saturday, starting at 4.56pm with the last to jump at 8.42pm.

MARCH’S CHANCE ON THE BIG STAGE

Warwick trainer-driver made the Warwick Pacing Cup his own last weekend, and is now hoping to back it up in one of Queensland’s biggest races.

Clintal Do, a winner of 26 of his 90 career starts, lines up in the $175,000 Group 1 Blakes A Fake Queensland Championship (2680m) at Albion Park on Saturday night.

The seven-year-old has drawn the pole on the second row, directly behind One Change, who is currently on the third line of betting.
