FOOTBALL: Twelve minutes was all Rockville needed to effectively seal its place in the next round of the Kappa Women’s Super Cup.
Sarah Sheridan’s goal, a pinpoint strike off a short corner, in the 13th minute kicked off the dominant period against Holland Park Hawks.
By the 25th minute, Rovers were three goals to the good with Shontelle Hagan scoring and Sheridan picking up her second with a thunderous strike.
Up 3-0 at the break, Rovers controlled the match going on to win 5-0 through second half goals to Sheridan and Steffi Wilson.
“I’m really happy with the result,” Rovers coach Arthur Wells said.
“Considering we have only have four girls from last year’s side, I thought we played really – particularly in the first half.
“They (the team) are really starting to gel well.
“We let the ball do the work with some great passing instead of getting into a kick-chase game, and that helped us control things.
“Even though it was really hot in Brisbane we played it out until the end as well.”
OTHER RESULTS: QAS 11 df Willowburn 0. Palm Beach 9 df Highfields 0.
