BASEBALL: The Toowoomba Rangers have been rolling through the start to the GBL season, and they’re looking to keep their momentum going on their home turf tomorrow.

The Rangers welcome Carina Redsox White to Commonwealth Oval, where they are hoping to extend their winning streak to four.

They were able to trounce the Redsox Red team last week to the tune of 11-4.

Despite being heavy favourites against their winless opponents, player-coach Luke Ardill said his side wouldn’t underestimate the challenge a hungry Carina side possesses.

“We try not to take any opponents easy, and especially games against winless teams, which can be the most dangerous,” Ardill said.

“You never want to go in overconfident. They’ll be hungry for their first win and will give it their all.

“Teams can roll you over and score a few runs when you’re not looking.”

Since a round two defeat to Wests, one of the most impressive features of the Rangers game has been their striking with the bats, hitting 36 home-runs in their last three matches.

“I think that loss to Wests gave us a bit of a wake-up call,” Ardill said.

“Since that third game we’ve been scoring a few runs. When you drop down a division, it can take a bit of time to get the eye and timing in, but now that we’ve been able to see a few of them, we’re getting better and better.”

Ardill said a target of the group was to be in top spot by the time the Christmas break rolls around.

Play begins at Commonwealth Oval at 11.45am, with the Rangers fifth division side to commence proceedings at 9.30 against Carina.
