The Chronicle’s Sean Teuma takes an in-depth look at Saturday evening’s meeting at Clifford Park.

BEST BET

Race 2, No 2: WILD MOON

His form prior to dumping the rider last start was superb and there’s no reason why he can’t win another race over the Clifford Park mile.

NEXT BEST

Race 5, No 1: MR BROSE

Should take up a forward position and prove hard to run down. The drop back to 1100m works in his favour after being run down by a smart one last start.

FORM ANALYSIS

RACE 1

Was hoping COUNT THE COIN opted for this event instead of Doomben. GRAND BARRAIL is a consistent type who finds it hard to win, but with seven minor placings from 12 starts, you know he will be thereabouts. Happy to let this one go through to the keeper.

BET: No bet

1, 4, 5

RACE 2

Put a pen through the last start of WILD MOON, who dislodged rider Andrew Mallyon upon jumping. His two starts here over the mile have been very good. His best is more than enough in a field like this. DREAM POLICE was a good winner her two starts back, before a fair outing at Ipswich. They look the two.

BET: Wild Moon to win

2, 6, 8, 7

RACE 3

TRAIL OF GLORY can continue on her winning way here. She stalked the pace and was an impressive winner on October 31 and is drawn to get a lovely run in transit. INCHING CLOSER has been racing well at his last couple, and has a great record at Clifford Park and over the journey. LI’L RODGE drops back in distance, but is classy enough to figure in the finish.

BET: Trail Of Glory to win

4, 6, 5, 2

RACE 4

The toughest race on the card with a group that haven’t been in great form. DANCES WITH ME is a lightly-raced eight-year-old who was pretty plain at the Gold Coast, however her best could be enough to take this out. Little confidence.

BET: No bet

4, 2, 1, 3

RACE 5

The run of Count The Coin earlier in the program will give a fair indication of the talent of MR BROSE. He’s had just the five starts, and looked to have the race won last time before Count The Coin flashed home to run him down. The drop back to 1100m will suit and he will again prove tough to run down. DAZZLING QUEEN is first-up after making her debut in July. She was a solid fourth in a big field, although has to contend with a wide draw.

BET: Mr Brose to win

1, 7, 5, 2

RACE 6

MT MORT SHARK has been beaten a fair way at his past three outings, however both have been in much stronger grade. The task of 1840m second-up should work in his favour, and he could run a decent race at nice odds. PLATINUM DEAL was solid behind Sarasun and is another that will enjoy the trip. YANKEE SANG and A’YUN are also chances in a tough race.

BET: MT MORT SHARK each way

1, 6, 10, 3

RACE 7

The field has dropped off for this two-year-old race. If SHERWOOD PRINCE starts here instead of Doomben, he wins, although don’t expect much of a price. SHE’S SO VAIN could impress on debut, while DELTA MISS and REBEL LASS need to show more.

BET: SHERWOOD PRINCE to win

1, 3, 4, 5
