The Chronicle’s Sean Teuma takes an in-depth look at Saturday evening’s meeting at Clifford Park.

BEST BET

Race 3, No 1: STEEL PIER

Looks very well placed here. Only needs to get around the track to be winning this.

NEXT BEST

Race 5, No 6: SNOW VALLEY

Brings strong NSW form lines to this event, and will relish getting back onto a good surface.

FORM ANALYSIS

RACE 1

Was keen on Courting Verity until her scratching. KANAVU was solid enough behind Red Monkey here a fortnight ago and his best is more than enough to figure in the finish. KEEP ON LOVING YOU has to contend with a tough gate, but has ability.

BET: No bet

3, 4, 12

RACE 2

A tricky race with a few live chances. ISAREADY has had his runs spaced, and will be tough to beat if he can produce a finishing burst like he did on debut. SNAP ON and SWEET VENOM also have to be respected.

BET: No bet

1, 4, 8, 5

RACE 3

This looks a case of STEEL PIER only needing to stay upright in order to win. He was solid at the Gold Coast on November 3 and has the benefit of a pair of runs under his belt. Skye Bogenhuber is a smart engagement, and his 3 ½ length sixth in a Group 3 last prep has him clearly on top.

BET: Steel Pier to win

1, 3, 4, 6

RACE 4

This looks like a two-horse affair. LUVYOUANYTIME will benefit from the run first-up when second at Ipswich over the 1350m. His last start over the Clifford Park mile saw him win by 10 ½ lengths. MBAPPE has been racing well in country New South Wales and comes from a good stable, but not entirely sure this event is any weaker than what he’s been contesting.

BET: Luvyouanytime to win

1, 4, 2, 6

RACE 5

A very intriguing sprint race. Banking on SNOW VALLEY to benefit from a solid tempo set by AMERICAN CROWN and LET’S PARTY MARTY. SNOW VALLEY was last seen finishing 2 ¼ lengths behind Two Big Fari, who went on to finish fifth in the Kosciuszko. Her form on wet tracks in Sydney is good enough to have her featuring prominently here.

BET: Snow Valley to win

6, 8, 2, 5

RACE 6

KIKI COCO has showed some promise early in her career and ran on well into the placings at Doomben on Melbourne Cup day. Will come into a nice draw if emergencies are scratched. REMEMBER BELLA, LET’S BOOM and PERSIAN KING have all been around the mark of late and it wouldn’t surprise if this was finally their night.

BET: No bet

9, 8, 6, 1

RACE 7

Another race that looks very tough to try and find a winner. COMMANDING SPIRIT showed improvement at her third career start when third behind Count The Coin and Mr Brose. The latter should’ve finished a lot closer last week. ANACHEEVA LAD was solid behind Mt Mort Shark when the winner made a mid-race move and challenged him early.

BET: No bet

4, 1, 6, 2
