LAWN BOWLS: Young gun Jake Rynne is set to take on the best players Queensland has to offer.

The North Toowoomba bowler will line up in the Queensland Champion of Champions finals this weekend.

Rynne will square off with some familiar faces including Queensland representatives Jacob Nelson (Gateway Zone) and Nick Cahill (Sunshine Coast Zone) as well as Queensland Premier League (QPL) Bushrangers teammate Steve Savage, who won the Condamine Zone.

Rynne booked his place in the final with a convincing 25-9 win over Jeff McNaught in the Cunningham Zone final played at Ipswich United Bowls Club.

Darling Downs women’s champion, North Toowoomba’s Julia Allen-Best, narrowly missed the state final, going down by just one shot to Algester’s Joanne Stockdale.
