BASKETBALL : The Mountaineers have always had a loyal supporter base.

Through thick and thin, the QBL side has been able to rely on both financial and vocal fan support every season.

Now they are ready to give back to the community that has given them so much.

With the NBL 1 North season cancelled and the SBL season on hold, the Mountaineers are supporting not-for-profit organisation FoodAssist.

"We decided we needed to do something for the community that always supported us," men's team assistant coach Matthew Cox said.

"A lot of people are struggling right now, some have lost their jobs, others are struggling to pay bills.

"We decided to donate some money to FoodAssist.

"Paying for groceries can be a big expense, so if our support for a fantastic organisation like FoodAssist can help put food on the table, that's great.

"Some of players will also be volunteering their time to help package food for FoodAssist."
