BASKETBALL: The Toowoomba Mountaineers are preparing to launch a two-pronged attack on today's U18s State Championships on the Gold Coast.
The Mountaineers will feature two boys sides throughout the tournament, in division two and a combined division three/four as they look to take down the best Queensland basketball has to offer.
The division two campaign begins with two games today against Sunshine Coast Phoenix and Burdekin, before matches against Gold Coast, North Gold Coast and Townsville in the coming days.
As for the division three/four boys, they take on Brisbane and Sunshine Coast Phoenizx on the opening day prior to games against Southern Districts, Rockhampton and Caboolture.
The sides will feature many of the players that have made an impact at the BQJBC level for Toowoomba so far this season.
Currently the Mountaineers sit on top of the division two Southern Cup standings with seven wins from as many games.
Ngaa Ngorima has been leading the way with over 22 points per game, with Anugs Scott, Nicholas Nugent and Vasilije Erceg each chipping in with 11.29 points.
In the division four Southern Cup, the Mountaineers sit in third place with five wins from seven games.
Warwick's Sam Wall has been leading the charge with a tick over 13 points per contest, while Kyle Ford's presence from outside the arc has helped the side.
