CRICKET: After a slow start to the season, the Brisbane Heat have launched into the finals of the Women’s Big Bash League.
The Heat were left languishing near the bottom of the ladder after four-straight losses, however their sixth-successive victory against the Melbourne Stars on Saturday ensured a top-four spot.
Toowoomba teenager Georgia Voll (pictured) again fired with the bat, scoring 34 runs from 28 deliveries, hitting five boundaries as the Heat won by three wickets.
Warwick’s Delissa Kimmince was able to ag a wicket with the ball as Brisbane knocked off the first-placed side.
Brisbane made it seven wins in a row when downing the Melbourne Renegades in their final game of the regular season on Sunday.
Coming in at four, Voll scored 20 runs to help the Heat post 114/6 from 17 overs.
Kimmince took a wicket with the first ball of the innings, finishing with figures of 1/3 from two overs.
The Heat will now face off with the Sydney Thunder on Thursday night for a spot in Saturday’s grand final.
The semi final will be shown live and in HD on Fox Sports from 6pm.
