RACING: Age is yet to weary the evergreen Kievann.

The 10-year-old turned the Dalby Newmarket (1200m) into a one-act affair, racing away for a four-length victory at Bunya Park.

Relishing the chance to race with just 51kg on his back, Kievann ($6) was able to power away with the race after sitting off the speed under Zac Lloyd, notching his 14th career win in the process.

“I was actually rapt, he’s a bit of a hard horse to ride,” trainer Lauren Abbott said.

“The way Zac rode him is the best way. He’s always fast out of the gates and he can find himself in trouble and wide.

“I spoke with Jeff (Lloyd) yesterday morning about a few different tactics that might arise depending on the speed.”

Earlier in the day, Tapa ($6.50) took advantage of good fortune to prevail by a nose in the Lightning Open Handicap (800m).

Leading chances Piracy ($2.25 fav) and Papa Jo effectively had their chances ended at the start after missing the jump badly, leaving just three to fight out the race.

Hard Stride ($7) looked poised to get up on the inside, before a gallant Tapa held on by the barest of margins.

Les Tilley took out riding honours for the day with a double, getting the money aboard Miss Cavallo ($2.70 fav) and To Love Somebody ($10).

AROUND THE TRACKS

Romakash ($5) made it back-to-back wins over the staying trip for Matt Kropp, nosing out Humbolt Current in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (2406m).

Hinged (Michael Nolan), Tesarc (Mark Currie), Champagne Aunty (Steve Tregea) and Red Bloom (Tony and Maddy Sears) all ran into the placings.

Sequesay ($1.24) made it two wins from as many starts with a three-length in the QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap at the Gold Coast.

Team Sears made it a double at the track with Spirit One proving too speedy in the Benchmark 65 Handicap (900m).
