Heat secure finals spot in Big Bash

CRICKET: Their winning streak may have come to an end at seven, however the Warwick’s Delissa Kimmince and the Brisbane Heat remain well poised to defend their Women’s Big Bash League crown.

Despite going down to the Melbourne Renegades at home on Wednesday, the Heat’s spot in the finals is secure on the back of their strong mid-season form.

With one weekend of action remaining, the Heat are currently in a tie for top spot with the Adelaide Strikers, however they have an extra game in hand.

The Perth Scorchers are also in pursuit of a top-two spot, with two games against the lowly Hobart Hurricanes to come.

They currently sit a win behind the Heat and Strikers, however possess an inferior run rate.

Kimmince and the Heat will travel down to Melbourne to face off with the Stars on Sunday to try and solidify their position.

The Warwick bowler has performed strongly once again with the ball this season, sitting in equal third with 16 wickets taken for the season at an average of 20.88.

Sunday’s match against the Stars commences at 2pm, and will be broadcast live on Kayo.
