CRICKET: Toowoomba Grammar has slipped to its second-consecutive loss in the GPS cricket competition.
TGS was no match for a rampant Southport School side, who claimed two bonus points in their 167-run victory.
With TSS opting to bat first, Mitch Doolan was able to remove both openers, with the visitors in a testing position at 2/55 through 17 overs.
They were able to quickly find their footing however, with a pair of handy partnerships propelling them to 5/261 from their 50 overs.
Grammar wasn't able to muster any momentum from the outset, losing four quick wickets to find themselves in a spot of bother at 4/23.
Harry Meiklejohn stuck around at the crease, adding 22 runs and forming a much-needed 41-run partnership with Taj Glenn (26).
However both were dismissed in quick fashion, as Grammar slipped further to 6/64.
Ultimately the mountain was too much to climb against a classy bowling outfit, with the defending premiers dismissing the home side for 94 runs inside 31 overs.
They get the chance to bounce back this weekend when they head east to take on Nudgee College.
