RUGBY LEAGUE: Beau Fermor’s incredible run to start his NRL career continued on Friday night.
The Dalby junior was in the thick of things as the Titans and Warriors engaged in an arm wrestle at Cbus Super Stadium.
As time wound down, the Warriors held a slender 12-10 lead, before Fermor had his moment to shine.
Gold Coast halfback Jamal Fogarty put a deft grubber kick in close to the line, which was tapped back by Blake Green in an attempt to make the ball dead.
He didn’t get enough on it, with a desperate Fermor not giving up on the chase.
It proved the difference, with the centre grounding the ball inches from the dead-ball line, and helping the Titans to a 16-12 victory.
The news wasn’t all good for players from the region, with Ash Taylor forced to leave the match early due to a head knock.
Ethan Lowe had another solid outing to close out Friday night for South Sydney, with the Rabbitohs moving back into the top-eight after a 18-10 defeat of the Tigers.
The Goondiwindi second rower had 35 tackles and eight runs in an 80-minute effort.
Closer to home, the Brisbane Broncos finally ended their six-game drought, downing the hapless Bulldogs 26-8.
Brodie Croft got through a mountain of work in the halves, making 24 tackles and controlling the game with his kicking.
Cory Paix was recalled after suffering an injury, playing 35 minutes at hooker in unison with Issac Luke.
