BASKETBALL: It’s no secret that Mitch Wormald formulated his Toowoomba Basketball League squad around depth.
The ability to be able to call on any one of his Washed on James Mustangs players has helped the team hold a clear second position on the ladder.
Wormald said he is pleased with the way his team has been able to operate this season, while acknowledging there is a bit of work to do to catch up to the unbeaten ladder leading Southern Cross Bricklaying Eels.
“I wanted 10 guys that I had the option of playing,” Wormald said.
“These guys have loved the opportunity.
“The Eels are the benchmark at the moment, and they’ve had the luxury of having a full squad most nights.
“The other three teams have always been a little shorthanded.”
The Mustangs will be without JaKobe Hunter for the remainder of the season, but Wormald said a next man up mentality will be in full effect.
That will be tested out tonight as they come up against the Pump Panthers, looking to bounce back after a heavy loss to the Eels last week.
The Westridge Fruit and Veg Warriors will have the task of trying to hand the Eels their first loss of the season.
The Eels prevailed 91-79 when the teams last played on November 2.
TBL FIXTURES
Eels vs Warriors at 6pm, Mustangs vs Panthers at 7.30pm. Games played at Clive Berghofer Arena tonight
