RUGBY LEAGUE: Not many people knew of Beau Fermor before the weekend.
The right-edge defence of the Cronulla Sharks is well aware of who he is now after an impressive debut showing from the Dalby Devils junior.
The Titans went down 40-10 in front of a small crowd on the Gold Coast, but the signs for the future were there after an electric first outing from the second-rower.
Despite the lopsided scoreline, the Titans were deep in the contest, and threatened to take the lead late in the first half, as Fermor made two clean line breaks that nearly resulted in tries.
He formed a formidable partnership with fellow Downs player Ash Taylor, who put him into space on both occasions.
Their northern neighbours faced a similar fate, with the Brisbane Broncos slumping to their sixth-straight defeat, going down to a heavily undermanned Warriors 26-16.
Missing captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck through suspension and with Kodi Nikorima ruled out with a head injury in the early stages, the Broncos looked in cruise control at 10-0.
A try on the stroke of halftime to the Warriors proved the start of a surge, with the Broncos failing to fire when it mattered.
A number of players were left visibly distressed after the result, including captain Alex Glenn and halfback Brodie Croft, as they sit near the bottom of the ladder.
