RUGBY LEAGUE: The TRL All Stars have barley spent any time together, but they are hoping pure talent can lead them to victory over the Southwest Queensland Emus tonight.
The two All Stars teams will take on the Emus and Country Emus at Clive Berghofer Stadium, as they look to end a two-year winless streak.
Coach Luke Duggan said he is happy with the way his squad has been able to come together in their brief sessions as a side.
“The boys are looking good and I’m really happy with how we’ve trained,” Duggan said.
“The structure and shape was good and I was impressed with how it went.
“We’ve tried to keep players (from the same team) together where possible.
“We haven’t stacked one team, we’ve tried to keep them as even as possible, so with that in mind it’s a good opportunity for them to show what they can do at that next level.
“The main thing that we’re looking for is to stick to the structure and the shape, get to a point on the field and get to a kick.
“We’re not there to lose, we are there to try and win. There’s nothing that I that I like to lose at. We’re going to try and grind out a win as best we can.”
Duggan said the efforts of a young Warwick outside back have taken his eye through the week, and hopes it translates to the field.
“Mitch Watson from Warwick is a real mover,” he said.
“He really covers ground and he’s been looking good.
“It will be interesting to see what a lot of these young players do at the next level and see if they can handle the step up.”
