BREAK IN: A business owner was left “shaken” after her family restaurant was broken into.

AMANDA Lum arrived to work at her family business, Lum’s Chinese Restaurant, on Saturday morning to find a knife laying on her front counter after a devastating early morning break-in.

“I went to the restaurant and didn’t notice anything was out of sorts until I went to the till,” she said.

“All the silver coins in the till were gone and there was a knife sitting on the front counter.”

Lum’s Chinese Restaurant became the newest victim in a break in on Saturday morning.

A QPS spokeswoman told the Dalby Herald the crime had been committed between Saturday night and Sunday morning, and the suspect had allegedly stolen a number of items from the business.

Mrs Lum, who has only owned the restaurant for about 18 months, believes the suspect stole over $1000 worth of property, including alcohol, a bluetooth speaker, and a mobile phone.

“The shop looked normal when I got there,” Mrs Lum said.

“There was no sign of any entry or anything. The back door was locked when I got to work because he locked the door on his way out.”

Mrs Lum told the Herald she was “still shaken and still frustrated” over the incident.

“I’m concerned that it could happen again because of how easy they got in,” she said.

“Will they come back and try it again? Because they didn’t damage anything this time, my concern is that they’ll come back and actually damage stuff.”

This is, unfortunately, not the first time an incident like this has struck the business.

“There was one before we officially opened the doors,” Mrs Lum said.

“They actually smashed the walls in the kitchen and dining room.”

CCTV footage was the saving grace during the incident as the business owners were able to identify what time the suspect broke into the shop.

“The police were able to get a clear view of the person’s face because they looked straight up at the camera as they came through the back door,” Mrs Lum said.
