Cars, watches, and a camper van stolen as thieves sack city

THIEVES targeted homes and vehicles leading to a spike in property crime across Toowoomba.

POLICE want residents to make sure their homes and vehicles are always locked after a string of break and enter offences across Toowoomba at the weeked.

Two cars and a camper van were stolen while seven homes and a further four vehicles were broken into.

The list of stolen property includes a collection of 16 watches plus cash, personal identification documents, and credit cards.

A white Holden Epica sedan, Queensland registration 771 SLW, was stolen from a home in Newtown, early Saturday evening.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the offenders broke in to the home and stole cars keys before making off with the car.

A grey Toyota Hilux, Queensland registration 371 TWO, was stolen from a home in Glenvale after the offenders found a spare set of keys nearby.

A Southern Cross branded campervan, Queensland registration 655 QWA, was stolen from South Toowoomba.

"In most cases the offenders have entered through insecure doors and windows," the QPS spokesman said.

"It is a reminder to make sure dwellings are secure, even when they are home and keep an eye on your neighbour's home.

"Report anything suspicious to police by calling Policelink or 000 if the crime is happening now."

Toowoomba police are pursing multiple suspects and investigations are ongoing.

The initial reports suggest the thefts were perpetrated by different and unconnected groups of offenders.
