I, like many people who live in this safe city, am against the location of the proposed Wellcamp detention centre and I have lobbied our federal member Garth Hamilton for his support in the matter.
Because there is to be an election later this year or early next year, the Federal Government will listen if the people let them know how they feel. I know no one who wants it here except the Wagners.
Toowoomba residents have kept themselves safe, and we want to stay that way.
Our hospitals are at 125% capacity so provisions would have to be made to have a hospital facility at that site.
The decision will be left to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, and I think that he should know of any opposition from this area.
