EARLIER this year The Chronicle put the call out for residents to say just who they thought was Toowoomba's best hairdresser for 2020.

Hair By Design owner Jason Cherry overwhelmingly won that vote, with 15 per cent of the hundreds of voters calling him Toowoomba's best.

"Since high school it was all I wanted to do … my heart was set on it," he said at the time of winning.

"As a boy from Surat, it was a bit unusual (to become a hairdresser) at the time, but I came to Toowoomba and did pre apprenticeship course for six months and have been here ever since."
