A MAJOR Toowoomba organisation has received $34,000 from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to continue to deliver its services.

Toowoomba South MP David Janetzki announced the funds for the Toowoomba Hospice this week.

"The Toowoomba Hospice has been designed to provide a home like atmosphere for the terminally ill," Mr Janetzki said.

"It plays an essential role for the Darling Downs community, ensuring families can spend their last days with loved ones in a safe and supportive environment," he said.

Toowoomba Hospice chairman Graham Barron said the hospice had been serving the local community for 17 years providing free palliative and respite care based on mutual respect, trust, and individual needs.

"This grant will allow us to purchase a new car," he said.

"We use the vehicle to deliver general supplies but also to provide medical supplies all over Toowoomba, so it's an integral part of our business."

The facility provides six beds for people in their final stages of life.

Mr Barron said as part of the Hospice's 17th anniversary planning, the organisation was aiming to install solar panels on the roof of their O'Quinn St facility, to expand their going green plan.
