PERFORMING to a crowd of 800 people would be intimidating for the best of us, but students as young as four pulled off the incredible feat when Dance Central's junior school staged its end of year performance.
Dance Central principal Alison Vallette said most years there is at least one student who baulks when it's time to take the stage and teachers will help them through their stage fright or take them out on one hip, but this year they all did it solo.
This year students took audience members at the Empire Theatre on an adorable and magical journey with Once Upon A Time and Ms Vallette said it was a hit.
"It was fantastic," she said.
"We had a wonderful crowd and the kids were over the moon.
"We had 180-200 students perform and they were wonderful."
The junior program is a point of pride for Ms Vallette thanks to the incredible skill set it gives growing young children.
"I think one of the greatest things students get is the ability to stand still, take direction, listen and take what their teacher tells them and do that independently," she said.
"Their listening skills develop incredibly well and also their emotional skills, not to mention physical strength, particularly with childhood obesity on the rise."
Next up on the Dance Central performance schedule is the senior group end of year performance, Cinderella, to be staged at the Empire Theatre on December 7 at 1pm and 6pm. For tickets visit empiretheatre.com.au or visit the box office.
