Artistic trio thrilled with group exhibition at Culliford House

Group exhibition Synchronicity hailed a success at Culliford House.

WHEN Megan Shine signed up to be part of an exhibition called Synchronicity she had no idea how many serendipitous things would happen.

The exhibition, featuring artists Ian Hay and Sandra Willis as well as Ms Shine, recently opened at Toowoomba Art Society's Culliford House to one of the biggest crowds the gallery has had.

Ms Shine said she signed up for the show right after quitting her legal job so the first incidence of synchronicity, otherwise known as a meaningful coincidence, was having the time to devote to it.

Her extensive legal connections also paid off when the invites went out and there were plenty of art enthusiasts from the legal community on hand to browse and buy the works.

This even included former Court of Appeal President Margaret McMurdo, who was able to attend thanks to having other commitments in Toowoomba for the weekend.

Ms Shine's connections at the Empire Theatre, where she works, landed them with some amazing art-themed catering for the opening.

Ms Shine said the opening was a huge success, with all three artists selling quite a few works.

Despite the vastly differing lives and personalities of all three artists, the exhibition was a beautiful, synchronised blend of colours, textures, mediums and ideas.

"We had over 100 people come to the opening and I sold 12 works, which is so good for tiny little Culliford House," Ms Shine said.

"People travelled from Brisbane and the Gold Coast to get here and the Friends of the Empire provided beautiful catering complete with Monet napkins.

"I think it was a really elevated event for Culliford House."
