CLASS is back in for students across the Balonne region, and at St Patrick’s in St George, principal Brendan Redinger can’t wait to give his students a wealth of hands-on experiences, with a very busy year ahead.

This year the school is welcoming just under 140 students, and outside of the enriching lessons in the classroom, will be sending their older students out in to the world on camps, which are set to be a major highlight.

“Coming up in term one, we will send our grade five and six children who are really interested in reading and writing to a literacy camp to Somerset Dam,” Mr Redinger said.

“It will give them an opportunity to meet authors, discuss what reading does to them, and how writing can have an impact on the lives of others.”

St Pat’s will also have a strong presence in the community in 2020, running all their usual favourite events.

“We have our Reef and Beef night, art show, school fete, and the Goondiwindi Eisteddfod, which is a really big deal for us here at St Pat’s,” Mr Redinger said.

“Our year 6 students will also be going to Canberra for their camp.

“This will be a full on year, but we do it for the love of our children, and they really do get a lot out of these experiences.

“We are looking forward to an exciting year that we can provide the town of St George, through the opportunity to be involved in our school community – not only for the children who attend our school, but for everyone.”

While the school already has a considerable number of students attending, Mr Redinger is adamant there is still room for more families wanting to join the St Pat’s community.

“If there are any interested families, we would love to showcase what we can offer.”
