THE Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce will give the region’s business community a chance to meet with the candidates of the upcoming council election in March.
The issues for the “meet the candidates” event in March will also be shaped by business owners and ratepayers, with chamber president Harrison Humphries asking for feedback.
“While local issues vary across Queensland, every chamber of commerce will be pushing candidates to commit to at least three promises as part of a statewide ‘Small Business is a big deal’ campaign,” he said.
“We want to know what local businesses need from the Toowoomba Regional Council to ensure they prosper.
“Small business is a big deal. It is estimated that 98 per cent of businesses are small, and that about 50 per cent of our population works in a small business, so when small business hurts, our whole community hurts too.
“What do you think is the best way to turbocharge the region, so businesses can grow and more money can flow through the local economy?”
There are currently more than two dozen council candidates and three mayoral candidates.
The council election will be held on March 28.
