Police investigators re-create Lindt Cafe shooting scenarios

MAN Monis shot at police just 21.6 seconds after they burst through the doors of the Lindt Cafe to bring the siege to an end, it has been revealed.

His two shots hit the wall to the left of the door about 1m and 2m from the heads of the team of Tactical Operations Unit who stormed the cafe after Monis had shot dead cafe manager Tori Johnson.

Along with rows of Santa Claus figures and other seasonal fixtures on the shelves, the first two TOU officers can be seen on a police re-enactment bursting into the cafe around 2.13am on December 16, 2014.

The inquest has been told of the moment Tactical Operations Unit officers burst into the cafe.

Using state-of-the-art technology, police experts have created 3D fly-throughs depicting what went on in the seconds after one of the police snipers in the Westpac building called “hostage down” after Mr Johnson was shot, triggering the police emergency action plan.

The incredibly detailed computer vision using avatars to represent the officers was played to the siege inquest in Sydney this morning.
