Landry v Bell: Erin Molan’s fiance to take stand

ERIN Molan’s new fiance Sean Ogilvy is set to take the stand in the high-profile stoush between Kelly Landry and Anthony Bell as a witness for the defence.

Day two of AVO hearing for Anthony Bell and Kelly Landry

AN explosive showdown is expected in court on Thursday as the fiance of Footy Show presenter Erin Molan takes the stand two days after she was accused by TV star Kelly Landry of having an inappropriate relationship with her millionaire accountant husband.

Homocide detective Sean Ogilvy has been summoned to give evidence in support of his mate, celebrity accountant, Mr Bell, who is fighting an application for an apprehended violence order taken out by police on behalf of his estranged wife.

The court had previously heard that Ms Landry, 37, accused her husband of having an inappropriate relationship with Molan as they celebrated his Sydney to Hobart yacht race victory last year.

On the night of the celebration she texted her husband about Molan - his crew member aboard Perpetual Loyal - writing, “I know about Erin,” and then, “I saw her run to you.”

Mr Bell’s lawyer Ian Temby QC told Magistrate Robert Williams that Mr Ogilvy would give evidence about a weekend horse riding with the Bell family in the Southern Highlands immediately after Ms Landry alleges she was assaulted by her husband on November 18 last year.

Ms Landry, the former Getaway TV star, is seeking a final apprehended violence order against Mr Bell who she claims physically assaulted her twice and was “financially mean,” throughout their five-year marriage.

Yesterday Mr Bell took the stand denying that he assaulted his wife or withheld money from her.

Ms Landry claims Mr Bell fell on her and grabbed her around the throat during a fight at their Bondi home in 2012.

She also claims he bruised her arm as they wrestled for her phone during another argument at their Watson Bay waterfront mansion on November 18 last year.

Under cross-examination Mr Bell admitted that during the fight he used a butter knife to jimmy open the locked door to the bedroom where Ms Landry was hiding.

He said the fight was sparked because Ms Landry was angry that they didn’t go to dinner at hatted seaside restaurant Catalina that night as planned and instead ended up having Friday night drinks with Mr Bell’s friends.

Mr Bell said after the fight Ms Landry locked herself in the bedroom.

When he opened the door he argued with Ms Landry who was using her phone to record the incident.

On the stand Mr Bell also denied he was “financially mean” to his wife by only giving her money for groceries or expenses in relation to family members.

Mr Bell said he transferred $1000 to her each week for groceries and personal expenses.

“If she needed extra money she just asked me at home and I would give it to her,” he said.

He was asked if he remembered certain times when Ms Landry claims she was stranded with no money on her credit card.

“Do you recall once that she was stuck in the car park and couldn’t pay for her ticket to get through the boom gate?” Sgt Nightingale asked.

“(It was) some time ago,” Mr Bell replied.

“Do you recall the time that she as at the airport trying to get a taxi home and couldn’t afford a taxi?” Sgt Nightingale said.

“No,” Mr Bell replied.

“Do you recall times when she contracted you because she had no money on her credit card to pay for dinner?”

“No,” Mr Bell replied.
