Kyle Sandilands blasted for refusing to allow Dominic Perrottet on radio show

Popular radio host Kyle Sandilands has been condemned for his decision to prohibit Premier Dominic Perrottet from this show based on his conservative Catholic views.

Left’s reaction to Dominic Perrottet’s religion is ‘quite alarming’

Kyle Sandilands has been blasted for his decision to ban Premier Dominic Perrottet from his radio show with claims it’s “not a crime to be a Christian”.

Maronite Christian Rick Mitry said he was appalled when Mr Sandilands told KIIS FM listeners this week he would be barring Mr Perrottet from his show because he didn’t like his “vibe”.

The comments were made when Mr Sandilands was discussing Mr Perrottet’s conservative Catholic views with a guest clairvoyant.

“Oh this guy’s gotta go, he’s never allowed on the show guys, just so you know,” Mr Sandilands told listeners.

“He’s not allowed, I don’t want that rubbish.”

Mr Mitry said targeting Mr Perrottet’s religious beliefs is unfair.

“I can’t understand why he’s (Sandilands) being so derogatory of Perrottet,” Mr Mitry said.

“He is the youngest Premier we have ever had. In some people’s minds, it is a bit of a crime to be a Christian. I’m not sure why.”

Mr Mitry is representing Canberra man Khalil Farah in a religious vilification case against Mr Sandilands in the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

The case relates to 2019 comments when Mr Sandilands said of the Virgin Mary: “Someone chokablocked her behind the camel shed and she lied and everyone believed her for 1000 years.”

In a September 28 decision, the tribunal rejected an application to have the case dismissed.

It will now proceed to hearing.

“It may have triggered him (Sandilands) a bit when he heard Perrottet talking about his Christianity,” Mr Mitry said.

“It brought him a lot of attention when he spoke about the Virgin Mary (in 2019), and he wanted to get himself a lot of attention now. And I think the guy stinks.”

Mr Sandilands publicly apologised for his Virgin Mary comments on September 20, 2019.

“Truly, from the bottom of my heart, never do I want to make someone so angry that they don’t want to listen to the show or to me,” Mr Sandilands said.

“In reflection I know what I said was dumb and I am the dumb one for saying it. Who am I to say what (others) should believe in?

“We all have the right to believe in whatever we want to believe in. No other person has the right to make us feel less for our beliefs.”

Mr Sandilands declined to comment when contacted by The Sunday Telegraph.
