Karen’s Diner to open at North Rocks Shopping Centre

An American-style diner famous for its rude staff who deliberately spout expletives at customers is spreading the jeers in western Sydney. Find out details of its opening.

Get ready to throw any customer service expectations out the window because Karen’s Diner is opening its fourth NSW restaurant at North Rocks Shopping Centre.

The burger joint will open in December and follows with locations at World Square, Ryde and the Central Coast already dishing up the profanities.

“Customers can expect plenty of sass, great food and a sprinkle of bad attitude,’’ a Karen’s Diner spokeswoman said.

“As Karen’s Diner goes, the food is great, the service ungrateful but your experience will be unforgettable.

“Don’t expect special treatment at this diner because it’s all about Karen, and she won’t be taking any of your nonsense.’’

The food should go down better than the staff attitude.

The menu is full of diner staples — burgers, loaded fries, thick shakes and even a Karen-inspired cocktail menu.

But be warned, you might cop a bit of backlash if you’re not into the traditional beef burger.

“Vegetarians, vegans non-alcoholics will all be catered for but don’t expect Karen to be happy about it,’’ the spokeswoman said.

“Don’t miss out on this great food but awful service. Whatever you do, don’t ask for a refund.’’

The food is reportedly good, if you don’t mind getting abused.

But food influencer Julia Troung, who runs the food Instagram account Blondeasian, won’t be one of the customers lining up for a burger.

“My friends told me their burgers are great but I don’t want to pay for a great tasting burger but have awful service,’’ she said.

“I don’t want to be humiliated and treated that way so personally I refrain from going to places like that.’’

She believes a “psychological kink” could lead diners craving a surly serve of attitude along their fries.

“I feel like it’s a kink of why people go to Karen’s Diner. It’s laughed at but it’s a bit kink where people want to be treated that way.

“It’s quite surprising with people having that interest to be abused and I don’t agree with it.

“But each to their own.’’
